IAG is looking to hire a qualified Junior Systems Administrator. This full-time position pays $45,000 a year.
Role and Responsibilities
The Junior Systems Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems (hardware and software) and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values and enabling staff. Periodic travel for repair or installation of new offices or systems will be required.
This individual will assist project teams, and individuals with technical issues, and will see those issues through to resolution. These activities include support through entire project life cycles, including post-implementation support, analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions. Work with third party vendors for Implementation and Best Practices Deployment.
This individual is accountable for the following systems: Microsoft Technologies (i.e. Active Directory, Office 365, Exchange, SharePoint, Azure Directory) and Windows systems that support Financial and Sales infrastructure; Windows and Applications systems that support core financial systems/software.
Responsibilities on these systems include system administration engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance and research and development to ensure continual innovation. AWS technologies are also utilized in some regions of the company with Linux servers. This individual will also be responsible for management and maintenance of backup software, virtualization software, storage solutions, and phone system.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc., in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Install and configure systems such as supports core, financial software and core operational infrastructure applications.
Configure desktops and cellular devices to company specifications.
Research and develop new technologies to further company goals.
Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
Contribute to and maintain system standards.
Perform data restores in a Unix environment.
Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks.
Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
Create, change, and delete user accounts per request for all software.
Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis based on recommendation from the Information Security Officer, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
Configure/add new services, as necessary.
Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs.
Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
Assist with troubleshooting and completion of Help Desk Ticket issues.
Work in a weekend rotating schedule to cover close of business and Help Desk.
This individual should possess a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a technology-related field. This individual should have between 2 and 4 years of experience in systems administration. Prior experience with the following software and hardware is a requirement for this position:
Mobile technologies including Android and Apple
A basic to intermediate knowledge of networking and networking equipment, and familiarity with the OSI stack and troubleshooting application, session, and transport layers.
Four-year degree with two years systems experience.
High school or equivalent with four years systems experience.
